A wide variety of local museums in Satakunta offer interesting things to see and experience for locals, vacationers, and tourists interested in culture. Satakunta’s local history museums, specialty museums, and other local museums maintain collections, organize events, and offer opportunities to engage with cultural heritage.
The project provides support to local museums in utilizing digital services and operating as cultural tourism destinations. The “Aikamatka Satakunnassa” website, which showcases cultural heritage sites and local museums, will be redesigned to be more user-friendly. The project will increase the accessibility of Satakunta’s cultural heritage, expand the range of interesting cultural tourism services, and foster participation in cultural heritage.
The project is being implemented in Satakunta. The target group consists of local museums maintained by volunteers from rural associations in Satakunta and by municipalities on a part-time basis. The project is specifically aimed at local museums, but the events are also open to other cultural heritage actors in the region, such as local history and village associations, as well as other tourism operators. The indirect target group consists of local residents, second-home owners, and tourists. The Finnish Local Heritage Federation (Suomen Kotiseutuliitto) is co-project partner and the project is being implemented in collaboration with the Satakunta Museum.
